DSC MPT (Multi-Protocol Tag) credentials provide a flexible and reliable solution for access control systems that require compatibility across multiple credential technologies. Originally associated with DSC (now part of Johnson Controls), MPT tags are designed to work with multi-technology readers that support both 125kHz proximity and 13.56MHz smart credential formats. These tags are commonly used with compatible readers from platforms such as Kantech ioSmart readers (including KT-MUL and KT-SG models), as well as other multi-technology readers that can interpret MPT or dual-frequency credentials. MPT tags offer versatility in environments where systems are transitioning from legacy prox to higher-security smart card technologies, allowing a single credential to function across different reader types.
