HID Signo Readers are HID's versatile family of access control readers designed to support both modern and legacy credential technologies. Depending on configuration, Signo readers can support 125 kHz proximity credentials, 13.56 MHz smart cards and mobile credentials, making them a strong choice for new access control installations as well as upgrades from older HID reader platforms.
The HID Signo platform includes standard profile readers, mobile-ready models, PIV-class readers and related accessories. Available reader formats include narrow mullion-mount Signo 20 models and wider wall-switch-mount Signo 40 models, with keypad and specialized configurations available for applications requiring additional functionality.

HID Signo 20 vs. Signo 40
The primary difference between the HID Signo 20 and HID Signo 40 is mounting format. The Signo 20 is a narrow reader designed for mullion mounting, while the Signo 40 uses a wider wall-switch footprint. Both reader families are available in configurations supporting multiple credential technologies and mobile access.

Upgrading from Legacy HID Readers
HID Signo readers are designed to support migration from legacy credential environments while providing a path toward newer smart card and mobile credential technologies. Organizations currently using HID Prox, Indala or certain older iCLASS credentials can select appropriate Signo configurations that support existing credentials while preparing for future transitions to Seos, MIFARE DESFire or HID Mobile Access.
