When an authorized credential is presented within the reader’s operating range, credential data is transmitted to the access control system for validation and an access decision.

How HID 125kHz Proximity Readers Work

1	The Reader Generates a Proximity Field An HID Prox reader generates a low-frequency field around the reader.
2	The Credential Is Presented When a compatible 125kHz proximity card, fob, or tag enters the field, the passive credential is energized and communicates its encoded credential data.
3	The Access Control System Validates the Credential The reader sends credential information to the connected access control system, which determines whether access should be granted according to the cardholder’s permissions.
