Description

Locknetics GF3000TRD Electromagnetic Shear Lock – Mortise Mounted, Fully Concealed, Top Rail Door

The Locknetics GF3000TRD electromagnetic shear lock is a fully concealed, mortise-mounted locking solution designed specifically for top rail door applications where access to the top of the door is limited after the door has been installed. The armature mounts into the top of the door or top rail, while the magnet mounts into the header or frame. Unlike the standard GF3000, the GF3000TRD allows air-gap adjustment from the latch edge of the door, making it especially useful where there is little or no clearance above the opening.

GF3000TRD Key Features

  • Series: GF3000 Mortise Mounted Shear Lock
  • Model: GF3000TRD
  • Application: Top Rail Door
  • Installation: Fully concealed, mortise mounted
  • Holding Force: 3,000 lb
  • Input Voltage: 12/24 VDC
  • Current Draw: 0.90 A @ 12 VDC / 0.45 A @ 24 VDC
  • Automatic voltage selection
  • Built-in automatic relock switch
  • Adjustable relock delay
  • Microprocessor-controlled operation
  • Floating armature design
  • Optional DSM/MBS monitoring

Designed for Top Rail Door Installations

The GF3000TRD is intended for openings where the top of the door cannot easily be reached for adjustment after the door is hung. The TRD mounting assembly allows the armature air gap to be adjusted from the latch edge rather than from the top edge of the door.

This configuration is particularly useful in openings with zero or minimal clearance between the top of the door and the ceiling or header area.

Fully Concealed Shear-Lock Operation

The GF3000TRD uses a concealed electromagnetic shear-lock design rather than a conventional surface-mounted magnetic lock. The magnet is mortised into the frame or header and the armature is mortised into the top of the door or top rail. When energized and aligned, the armature engages the magnetic assembly to provide up to 3,000 lb of holding force while keeping the locking hardware largely hidden from view.

Automatic Relock & Timing

The GF3000TRD includes a built-in Automatic Relock Switch (ARS), which requires the door to be in the closed position before the magnet can energize.

An adjustable time delay allows relocking to be delayed from approximately 2 to 30 seconds, with a factory default of 3 seconds.

12/24 VDC Automatic Voltage Selection

The lock operates on filtered and regulated 12 or 24 VDC and automatically detects the applied voltage.

Current draw is approximately 0.90 A at 12 VDC or 0.45 A at 24 VDC.

Common Applications

  • Top rail commercial doors
  • Access-controlled entrances
  • Architectural openings with concealed hardware
  • Office buildings
  • Healthcare facilities
  • Government buildings
  • Educational facilities
  • Commercial interiors
  • Openings with limited overhead access

Why Choose the TRD Version?

Choose the GF3000TRD when the lock needs to be concealed in a top rail application but the top edge of the door will not be accessible for adjustment after installation. The latch-edge adjustment design gives installers a practical way to fine-tune the armature air gap without removing the door or gaining access above it.

GF3000 Series Comparison

Model Mounting Air-Gap Adjustment Best Use
GF3000 Top of door / header From top edge of door Standard concealed shear-lock applications
GF3000TRD Top rail / header From latch edge of door Top rail doors with limited or zero overhead clearance
GF3000BRD Bottom rail / floor From edge of armature Bottom rail and compatible glass-door applications

All three mortise versions are rated for 3,000 lb holding force and operate on 12/24 VDC.

Optional Door & Bond Monitoring

The GF3000 Series is available with an optional DSM/MBS Door Status Monitor / Magnetic Bond Sensor. This option can provide additional status feedback to the access control or security system regarding door position and magnetic bond condition.

Installation & Power Notice

Important: Proper door alignment and air-gap adjustment are essential for reliable shear-lock operation and rated holding force. Allegion specifies a filtered, regulated 12 or 24 VDC power supply. Verify door and frame construction, available top-rail depth, latch-edge access, life-safety requirements, monitoring options, and access control system design before ordering or installing the GF3000TRD.

GF3000TRD Fully Concealed Top Rail Shear Lock for Access Control

The Locknetics GF3000TRD Top Rail Door shear lock is designed for access-controlled openings where concealed hardware is preferred and overhead access is restricted after the door is installed. Its latch-edge armature adjustment differentiates it from the standard GF3000 and makes it especially well suited for top-rail doors with minimal clearance above the opening.

With 3,000 lb holding force, 12/24 VDC operation, automatic voltage selection, built-in relocking control, adjustable timing, and optional door/bond monitoring, the GF3000TRD provides a high-security concealed locking solution for commercial access control applications.
