Description
CAMDEN® CM-336/42 SureWave™ Battery Powered Wireless Touchless Switch
The Camden CM-336/42 SureWave™ is a battery-powered wireless touchless activation switch designed for automatic door operators, access control systems, and ADA-compliant door activation applications. Featuring a built-in 915 MHz spread-spectrum wireless transmitter, the CM-336/42 eliminates costly wiring runs while providing reliable activation performance for both new construction and retrofit installations. The switch is supplied with a black single-gang faceplate featuring a hand icon, wheelchair symbol, and "Wave to Open" graphics for intuitive operation and accessibility compliance.
Using advanced active infrared sensing technology, the CM-336/42 allows users to activate doors with a simple hand wave, helping reduce contact with shared surfaces and improving accessibility. Designed for indoor and outdoor use, the switch includes a weather-resistant gasket and operates in temperatures ranging from -4°F to +153°F (-20°C to +85°C). The battery-powered wireless design makes it an ideal solution where running control wiring is impractical or cost-prohibitive.
The CM-336 Series delivers industry-leading battery performance, offering up to four years of battery life using standard AA alkaline batteries. For operation below freezing temperatures, Camden recommends lithium batteries for maximum reliability. A Camden CM-RX90 Wireless Receiver is required for operation.

Comparison to Similar Camden Models
The CM-336/42 is Camden's fully wireless battery-powered SureWave™ switch and is often selected when wiring cannot easily be installed. Compared to the CM-324 Series, which is a wired touchless switch, the CM-336/42 eliminates the need for control wiring between the switch and operator. Compared to the CM-325 Series, which provides a shorter activation range and wired operation, the CM-336/42 offers wireless flexibility and greater installation versatility. The CM-333 Series provides battery-powered operation but includes a relay output, whereas the CM-336/42 incorporates a built-in wireless transmitter specifically designed for use with Camden's wireless receiver platform.
Why Choose the CM-336/42?
For retrofit automatic door installations, the cost of running wiring often exceeds the cost of the activation device itself. The CM-336/42 provides a clean, professional solution that reduces labor costs while delivering reliable wireless performance, touchless activation, long battery life, and ADA-compliant operation.
