Wireless Hands-Free Door Activation
The Camden CM-336 series is designed for both new construction and retrofit automatic-door installations. Because the wireless transmitter is built directly into the switch, installers can avoid the need to install a separate transmitter or run activation wiring between the switch and receiver.
This makes the CM-336/42SW wireless wave-to-open switch particularly useful for retrofit projects, accessible entrances, healthcare environments, public facilities, and other locations where installing new control wiring may be difficult, disruptive, or expensive.
Touchless Wave-to-Open Operation
Users activate the switch by moving a hand within the adjustable infrared sensing area rather than physically pressing a push plate. The CM-336 detects the hand movement and transmits a wireless activation signal to a compatible receiver connected to the automatic door operator or access control equipment. The sensing range can be adjusted from approximately 1 inch to 12 inches, allowing the installer to tailor activation distance to the application.
/42 Accessibility Graphics
Camden identifies the /42 graphic option as a combination of a hand icon, “Wave to Open” text, and wheelchair accessibility symbol. The graphics clearly communicate both touchless operation and accessible door activation to building occupants.
This makes the CM-336/42SW particularly appropriate for accessible automatic door installations where clear visual instructions are important.
Double-Gang Stainless Steel Faceplate
The SW configuration uses a stainless steel, double-gang faceplate without illumination. A rubber gasket is supplied for installations requiring additional resistance to weather and water exposure.
For surface-mounted applications, Camden specifies the CM-43CBLA surface mounting box for double-gang SureWave switches.
Battery-Powered for Easier Retrofit Installation
The CM-336 is supplied with two AA alkaline batteries. Battery operation eliminates the need to provide line power at the switch location, helping simplify installation in retrofit door projects.
Camden also offers an optional lithium battery configuration for colder environments. Lithium batteries are recommended when operating temperatures may fall below 32°F (0°C).

Why Choose Wireless?
A wireless activation switch can significantly simplify installations where wall access is limited or where running new wire would require cutting, patching, conduit, or other construction work. The CM-336/42SW combines battery operation and an integrated wireless transmitter in one device, making it particularly attractive for automatic-door retrofits and upgrades.
Camden SureWave Touchless Switch Comparison
| Series | Power | Wireless | Best Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| CM-336/42SW | Battery | Built-in 915 MHz transmitter | Wireless retrofits and hands-free automatic-door activation |
| CM-333 Series | Battery | No built-in wireless transmitter | Hybrid applications requiring a wired relay output |
| CM-331 Series | 12/24V AC/DC | Optional transmitter | Wired touchless installations |
Why select the CM-336? Choose the CM-336 series when you want a battery-powered touchless switch with the wireless transmitter already built in, reducing wiring requirements at the activation point.
Compatible Wireless Receiver Required
The CM-336/42SW contains the wireless transmitter, but a compatible Camden wireless receiver is required to receive the activation signal and interface with the door operator or control equipment. Camden identifies the CM-RX-90 as a compatible Lazerpoint™ and Kinetic™ single-relay receiver. Receiver requirements should be confirmed for the specific door operator and application before ordering.
