Description
Camden CM-336/42N SureWave Battery-Powered 915 MHz Wireless Touchless Switch
The Camden CM-336/42N SureWave wireless touchless switch is a second-generation, battery-powered hands-free door activation device designed for new and retrofit automatic door and access control applications. Using advanced active infrared sensing and Camden's built-in 915 MHz Lazerpoint RF wireless technology, the CM-336/42N provides fast, touch-free activation without requiring control wiring between the switch and compatible receiver.
Powered by two supplied AA alkaline batteries, the CM-336 Series provides an estimated battery life of up to 4 years based on approximately 100 operations per day. The switch is designed for indoor or outdoor use and includes a gasket for suitable installations. A compatible Camden wireless receiver, such as the CM-RX90, is required for system operation.

Second-Generation Wireless Touchless Door Activation
The Camden CM-336 Series is designed to provide reliable hands-free door activation without the wiring normally required between an activation switch and door-control equipment. The switch uses Camden's Lazerpoint RF technology and a built-in 915 MHz transmitter to send an activation signal to a compatible wireless receiver.
This makes the CM-336/42N particularly useful for retrofit automatic door installations, finished walls and other applications where adding new control wiring may be difficult or undesirable. It is equally suited for new projects where reducing wiring can simplify installation.
Long Battery Life
Camden rates the CM-336 Series for an estimated 4-year battery life when using standard AA alkaline batteries and based on approximately 100 activations per day. A built-in low-battery alarm and battery test gauge help simplify ongoing maintenance.
For environments below 32°F (0°C), lithium AA batteries are recommended to provide better low-temperature battery performance.
Fast Active Infrared Sensing
The CM-336/42N uses active infrared technology to detect a hand presented within the sensing area. The standard operating range is adjustable from approximately 1 inch to 12 inches, allowing installers to configure the switch for the application.
Hands-free activation eliminates the need to physically press a conventional door button and is well suited for accessible entrances, automatic doors and commercial facilities where convenient touch-free activation is desired.
Ideal Applications
- Automatic door activation
- ADA accessible entrances
- Wireless door activation
- Retrofit access control projects
- Commercial building entrances
- Healthcare and medical facilities
- Educational facilities
- Office and institutional buildings
- Locations where new control wiring is difficult
- Indoor and outdoor door activation applications

Compatible Camden Wireless Receiver Required
The CM-336/42N does not operate as a standalone relay switch. Its built-in 915 MHz transmitter sends the activation command to a compatible Camden Lazerpoint wireless receiver. Camden lists the CM-RX90 V2 single-relay receiver and CM-RX92 dual-relay receiver as compatible receiver options.
For a typical single-relay door activation application, the Camden CM-RX90 receiver is required unless a compatible Camden receiver is already installed. Confirm the existing receiver and system configuration before ordering.
